What is the biggest mistake one can make when getting dressed?

Getting dressed for someone else and not feeling confident with what you are wearing! A woman should always love herself and never be afraid of what others think.

Do you believe in role models?

Of course I do; everyone takes inspiration from role models but they don't necessarily have to be style icons, bloggers or it girls. I take inspiration from everything that surrounds me - it could be an unknown lady walking across the street. In the last couple of years I really admire the Russian fashion pack: Elena Perminova, Miroslava Duma and Ulyana Sergeenko are always flawless and they effortlessly rock some of my favourite fashion pieces.

What are your favourite fabrics?

Denim for its versatility, lace (elegant and sexy at the same time) and leather. During the winter, velvet and cashmere take over the scene.

Are there any style combinations that you object to?

Any combination that results to a trashy or vulgar look, such as a mini skirt with high heels and a cropped top. Just say no!

Which city has the best-dressed women?

It's rather difficult to say, I love street style photography blogs and there are incredibly stylish women in every city. If I had to select one, I'd probably say Milan, as Italian fashion is admired internationally. However, the fact that I'm from Milan makes me a bit biased…

Would you say that you are conservative or bold?

It depends. I'm bold for some things but also really conservative for others.

What are the rules in the way you dress?

Wear what makes you feel beautiful and confident with yourself and NEVER wear high heels if you have to walk more than five hundred metres.

Celebrities and style...

Got along extremely well in the past: Audrey Hepburn, Sophia Loren, Grace Kelly… their style is timeless. Nowadays though, it's more about the stylists.

Name one garment/accessory that you can never have enough of?

Jeans.

A woman should always look like…

She's happy with herself and ready to deal with her everyday life.

Who taught you what you know about style?

I know most of the people answer “my mum or my grandmother” at this question but I’m afraid I had to learn what I know about style by myself! Both my grandmother and mother are more of the “who cares what you're wearing as long as it's clean, neat and tidy” type of person. However, my mum always supported my passion for fashion and working as a model and staying in close contact with the fashion world helped me train some “style skills”.

How do you select your clothing every morning?

It depends on my mood when I wake up, and the weather plays an important role in the decision.

What is your biggest regret?

My biggest fashion regret was during the sales some time ago. I found an amazing pair of Prada shoes at fifty per cent off, with just my number left. I decided “to think about the purchase” and returned for them the next morning after realising that my closet was empty without them. They were gone and I never found them again. Sad story, I know.

The three essential things a woman should know about style are…

Never wear skin coloured stockings, underwear should always match and black is the new black: when in doubt go for it!

Do you have any shopping rituals?

Actually, no. But I tend to go shopping with my sister. She keeps me from buying too much and she's always really honest in giving her opinion on how the clothes suit me (sometimes too honest, actually).

We will never see you wearing...

Yellow, but who knows..

Which new designers do you follow and why?

There are so many talented new designers out there, and I can't name just one. With that being said, I designed a small collection with my sister called “The Lipstick Sisters” (our surname is Rossetto, which translates into lipstick in Italian). It isn't out yet but I wore most of the clothes during Milan's last fashion week and received so many compliments and requests! So who knows, we could be the ones I'll have to follow the most.

Who is the most stylish person you have ever seen?

There are so many, the list is endless. Anna Dello Russo, Giovanna Battaglia and Ulyana Sergeenko are always perfect, so I guess I'd name them if I had to choose some.

What is the first thing you notice on a woman?

Her hands, posture, and her shoes of course.

What are the most treasured items in your wardrobe?

A beautiful vintage burgundy cape that belonged to my great grandmother and a small Gucci bag that I purchased with my first pay check from a modelling gig.

The one image that defined your approach to style...

The first image that came to my mind after reading this question is a black and white photo of Maria Carla Boscono that I must have seen in one of Vogue's latest issues. But I sincerely don't know why this happened.

Which designer never fails to impress you?

Again the list is endless, but Dolce and Gabbana, Givenchy, Balmain and Valentino are probably at the top of it right now.

One article of clothing that a woman needs to pay close attention to is…

Proportions. It's the most important thing, getting them wrong is probably the worst faux pas you can do.

Is comfort an enemy of style?

It can be; people will tell if you are uncomfortable in what you wear.

Who would you like to recommend for My Style?

Xandra M. Linsin of “Allez Xandra”. She's an amazing street style photographer.

The best words of advice you have ever heard?

Life is a mirror, smile and it'll smile back.
