The three essential things a woman should know about style are...

Style is innate, fluid and 100 per cent subjective… so whatever your style might be — OWN IT!

Please describe your style in three words.

Classic, and with a rock 'n' roll edge.

What is the biggest mistake one can make when getting dressed?

Getting dressed without a full-length mirror. It’s very important to always see the full picture.

Do you believe in role models?

Of course I do.

What are your favourite fabrics?

Georgette, cashmere, and gauzy cotton.

Are there any style combinations that you object to?

As long as you remain true to your own sense of style, there is nothing I object to.

Which city has the best-dressed women?

Paris.

Would you say that you are conservative or bold?

My personal sense of style is more conservative, but when it comes to styling, I definitely like to make riskier choices.

What are the rules, if any, in the way you dress?

I don’t really have “rules”, as I feel they are always meant to be broken; however, I always try to keep in mind my own body type and what would look best on me. Even though I admire certain cuts and silhouettes on other women, I need to remember what works for me and my shape.

Celebrities and style...

Should remain faithful to their own personal style — it definitely shows when one is inauthentic.

A woman should always look like...

Herself.

Who taught you what you know about style?

Every experience, place, and person I have ever come in contact with has taught me about style. People and environments constantly inspired me.

How do you select your clothing every morning?

It all depends on my mood when I wake up. I always think: “who do I want to be today?”

What is your biggest regret?

No regrets, only lessons learned.

Do you have any shopping rituals?

No rituals. Everyday is a new chance to try and do something new.

We will never see you wearing...

Crocs.

Which new designers do you follow and why?

Peter Pilotto, Alexandre Vauthier, Anthony Vaccarello.

Name one garment/accessory that you can never have enough of?

That would be my black leather Balenciaga motorcycle jacket. It’s the single best thing I have ever purchased.

Who is the most stylish person you have ever seen?

Marlene Dietrich, Jane Birkin, Audrey Hepburn, Talitha Getty.

What is the first thing you notice on a woman?

Her attitude.

What are the most treasured items in your wardrobe?

My vintage dresses. I have spent years collecting my vintage designer dresses and spent some pretty pennies at the auction houses. But, it’s been totally worth it! When I see them in my closet, I get happy… like clothing Prozac.

The one image that defined your approach to style...

Any image by Helmut Newton.

Which designer never fails to impress you?

Alexander McQueen and Givenchy.

One article of clothing that a woman needs to pay close attention to is...

Her shoes.

Is comfort an enemy of style?

Not at all.

Who would you like to see next in €œMy Style€?

Emmanuelle Alt.

The best words of advice you have ever heard?

There is only one you. Own your individuality.
