Which city has the best-dressed men?

I always thought Paris, but after a recent trip there I must say that it is actually Rome.

Please describe your style in three words.

Authentic, edgy, and evolving.

What is the biggest mistake one can make when getting dressed?

Overthinking and underestimating.

What are your favourite fabrics?

Cotton, linen, and denim.

Are there any style combinations that you object to?

Wearing sandals and socks...

Would you say that you are conservative or bold?

Bold.

What are the rules in the way you dress?

Be yourself. Dress for the occasion. Don't imitate, interpret.

Celebrities and style...

Often interfere with each other.

Name one garment/accessory that you can never have enough of?

My tiger eye wristband that a very good friend of mine made for me.

A man should always look like…

The best version of himself.

Who taught you what you know about style?

George Cortina. That said, I had quite a teacher.

How do you select your clothing every morning?

In my head, while I shower.

What is your biggest regret?

Until now, I have none.

Do you have any shopping rituals?

Not really. I’m quite impulsive in that respect.

We will never see you wearing...

Sandals and socks!

The most stylish person you have ever seen...

Oh, there are a few... I have a thing for people with character and strong personalities and love it when that is reflected in their style. Johnny Depp and Stella Tennant for example.

What is the first thing you notice on a man?

His eyes. You can read a lot in people’s eyes.

The one image that defined your approach to style...

Luchino Visconti’s Film “The Leopard”. The attention to detail in every aspect of that movie is just absolutely stunning.

Which new designers do you follow and why?

My friend Esteban Cortazar. Besides being extremely talented, he is just an incredibly inspiring human being. The boys from Baja East, their approach to fashion is fun and takes the Bohemian lifestyle to a completely new level. Last but not least, Alessandra Lanvin and her shoe label Aperlai. Her creations are absolutely mesmerising.

The only article of clothing that a man needs to pay close attention to is…

Actually his body. A man that is in shape just needs a white or black V-neck, jeans and vintage boots to always look great.

What are the most treasured items in your wardrobe?

A pair of boots and a coat from John Galliano’s Russian Collection.

Is comfort an enemy of style?

No, not if you have style.

Which designer never fails to impress you?

Karl Lagerfeld at Chanel. That he still turns it out after all these years is quite incredible.

Who would you like to recommend for My Style?

Katrin Thormann and Esteban Cortazar.

The best words of advice you have ever heard?

In regards to style: life will never be perfect, but your outfit can be.
