The only article of clothing that a man needs to pay close attention to is...

If you’re only paying attention to one, then you’re not doing it right.

Please describe your style in three words.

Classic. Adaptable. Character.

What is the biggest mistake one can make when getting dressed?

Not wearing underpants. Chafing is a killer.

Do you believe in role models?

Yes. Every boy should want to be like someone.

What are your favourite fabrics?

Pure wool and linen.

Are there any style combinations that you object to?

White socks and black dress shoes — a sin.

Which city has the best-dressed men?

London or New York. People dare to be different there.

Would you say that you are conservative or bold?

Becoming bolder in my old age.

What are the rules, if any, in the way you dress?

Keep it clean and fitted.

Celebrities and style...

Are a necessary evil.

One garment/accessory that you can never have enough of?

Shoes. My collection is pretty epic. Italian, English, sneakers, all of them.

A man should always look like...

A man.

Who taught you what you know about style?

Parents and my best mates. Those closest to you often define one’s style (and behaviour).

How do you select your clothing every morning?

I close my eyes, spin around five times and crash into the wardrobe. Whatever falls off the coat hangers is my outfit for the day.

What is your biggest regret?

Wearing a tuxedo jacket which was never tailored.

The three essential things a man should know about style are...

Start giving a damn. Build your basics (jeans, t-shirts, etc.). Invest in quality.

Do you have any shopping rituals?

Too many. It’s a problem.

We will never see you wearing...

A hat with a suit. Dear God, no.

The most stylish person you have ever seen...

Lapo Elkann. Love the guy. He dares to be different.

What is the first thing you notice on a man?

Shoes. As do most women.

The one image that defined your approach to style...

Sean Connery leaning against an Aston Martin DB5.

Which new designers do you follow and why?

I’m really into Japanese designers at the moment. Galaabend and Lounge Lizard are cool. I also think there’s some great European brands like Ankar and a few others.

What are the most treasured items in your wardrobe?

Lanvin sneakers, Zegna suits, and Happy Socks.

Is comfort an enemy of style?

Today it is. It’s really hard to get on a motorbike in skinny jeans.

Which designer never fails to impress you?

Gucci and Dsquared2 never fail to please me.

Who would you like to see next in œMy Style€?

Niklas J Ankar from Ankar Sweden.

The best words of advice you have ever heard?

"Bad decisions make great stories".
