The three essential things a woman should know about style are...

The right way to express your own style comes with practice. Less is always better. It is not just about your outfit, it's about everything: acting, speaking.

Please describe your style in three words.

Moody, sharp, contrast.

What is the biggest mistake one can make when getting dressed?

To dress like somebody else.

Do you believe in role models?

Absolutely, they are especially very important for young people.

What are your favourite fabrics?

Leather and everything with Lycra.

Are there any style combinations that you object to?

No, as long as there is the word ‘style’ involved.

Which city has the best-dressed women?

London is more entertaining for me than Paris and Milan.

Would you say that you are conservative or bold?

With time more conservative, but I still don’t like perfection. You always need to mess up the perfect outfit and put a little touch of rock 'n' roll.

What are the rules in the way you dress?

To be able to run away and survive the day, any day, and collect many compliments.

Celebrities and style...

Are connected as they can hire good fashion people to help them.

Name one garment/accessory that you can never have enough of?

Shoes, bags, animal print, military-style pieces, Hungarian designer clothes.

A woman should always look like...

However they want to.

Who taught you what you know about style?

I spent my childhood behind the iron curtain, so I hardly met people with really unique style in reality. However, I read many fashion magazines and my grandmother had a well-known atelier in our town, so I observed how the wealthy wives were trying to be well dressed. If they accepted my grandmother’s advice they surely would succeed.

How do you select your clothing every morning?

Preferably after I drank two coffees.

What is your biggest regret?

As you are questioning a Hungarian, it has to be a tricky answer. My biggest regret is my biggest pride as well: that I didn’t leave my country. Yet. :-)

Do you have any shopping rituals?

I have to prepare a wish list. But then I never follow up.

We will never see you wearing...

Something very sporty, except when I am running.

Which new designers do you follow and why?

Dora Abodi, Kata Szegedi, Nubu — they are Hungarians. I want them to reach a great position in the fashion world.

Who is the most stylish person you have ever seen?

Fortunately I see many stylish people thanks to my job, so I can learn a lot every day!

What is the first thing you notice on a woman?

Her eyes.

What are the most treasured items in your wardrobe?

My dresses.

The one image that defined your approach to style...

A Helmut Newton photo showing a woman wearing a black suit while standing in a narrow, dark street. Generally all of his pictures, even the ones who have no clothing on, express the strong, sharp style that I really love.

Which fashion house never fails to impress you?

Burberry, Gucci.

One article of clothing that a woman needs to pay close attention to is...

Her dress. It’s feminine and very practical at the same time.

Is comfort an enemy of style?

Absolutely not. Then we would be miserable.

Who would you like to recommend for €œMy Style€?

Eszter Felkai, founder of Toni & Guy Fashion Week Budapest and Dora Abodi, fashion designer.

The best words of advice you have ever heard?

Just do it, it will be over anyway.
