The three essential things a woman should know about style are...

When in doubt about any purchase, the answer should always be no. Less is more. Flesh, not fabric. You just feel hotter in high heels.

Please describe your style in three words.

Tim Burton widow.

What is the biggest mistake one can make when getting dressed?

Forgetting pants.

Do you believe in role models?

Absosmurfly. (Editor's note: means 'Better than absolutely' in Smurfspeak).

What are your favourite fabrics?

Black leather and lace.

Are there any style combinations that you object to?

Anything slutty and cheesy.

Which city has the best-dressed women?

Paris.

Would you say that you are conservative or bold?

Conservative, but in a Wednesday Addams kind of way.

What are the rules in the way you dress?

Black, grey or white.

Celebrities and style...

Go together like fish and bicycles.

Name one garment/accessory that you can never have enough of?

Coats.

A woman should always look like...

She isn’t a streetwalker.

Who taught you what you know about style?

Mom.

How do you select your clothing every morning?

It depends on my mood.

What is your biggest regret?

Chopping my hair into a bob by lopping off eight inches when I turned 35.

Do you have any shopping rituals?

January sales! And Woodbury Common, our biggest designer outlet mall in the U.S. #goldmine

We will never see you wearing...

A fun, colourful, happy dress.

Which new designers do you follow and why?

I love Philip Llim and Andrew Gn because they fit me so well and aren’t afraid of black and grey. That said, I mix them with more romantic and violent stuff like lace tights or black leather boots with bows.

Who is the most stylish person you have ever seen?

The people in the Nine Inch Nails “Perfect Drug” video.

What is the first thing you notice on a woman?

Her eye contact and warm smile. Or lack thereof.

What are the most treasured items in your wardrobe?

My Chanel pink tucked leather jacket with satin ribbons and a Spanish fan collar, my JK Goyard skull bag (three were made before the dude got fired for being too trendy by the classic malletier) and an Edwardian black coat with ruffles in the back by L.A.M.B.

The one image that defined your approach to style...

A black knight-like installation at the Alexander McQueen show at the Met.

Which fashion house never fails to impress you?

Anna Sui and Marc by Marc Jacobs.

One article of clothing that a woman needs to pay close attention to is...

Her shoes.

Is comfort an enemy of style?

Not necessarily. Perhaps with some footwear. ;-)

Who would you like to recommend for €œMy Style€?

Meredith Melling.

The best words of advice you have ever heard?

Put on all your jewellery and then add one more piece.
