What are the rules in the way you dress?

I go with earth tones, adding a touch of colour to accentuate things. Also, I always focus on accessories to make things pop, like colourful belts, watches, gloves, scarves, and hats.

Please describe your style in three words.

Classic, urban, and refined.

What is the biggest mistake one can make when getting dressed?

Being afraid of colours.

Do you believe in role models?

Without role models how would you ever know how to climb to the greatest of heights?

What are your favourite fabrics?

Cashmere, merino wool, vicuña and qiviut.

Are there any style combinations that you object to?

Jeans worn super low, hanging around your ass.

Which city has the best-dressed men?

Milan when it comes to suits, Paris for street wear.

Would you say that you are conservative or bold?

Conservative.

Celebrities and style…

Don’t always go hand-in-hand, unless they are paying the right person to make them stylish.

Name one garment/accessory that you can never have enough of?

Vintage sunglasses.

Do you have any shopping rituals?

Sunday strolls after brunch to my favourite boutique men's shops wherever I am in the world.

A man should always look like…

He just woke up and looked this good.

Who taught you what you know about style?

The designers I worked extremely close with over the years: Tom Ford, John Varvatos, Ralph Lauren, and Gianluca Isaia.

How do you select your clothing every morning?

Based on the weather and my emotional state.

What is your biggest regret?

That I didn’t learn everything I know earlier in my 20’s.

The three essential things a man should know about style are…

Invest in a killer pair of black boots, always tailor your suits to fit your body type, and own a few pairs of jeans that you want to wear at your funeral.

We will never see you wearing...

Speedos.

The most stylish person you have ever seen...

Tom Ford.

What is the first thing you notice on a man?

His shoes or watch.

Which new designers do you follow and why?

Thom Browne. I've watched him grow from his 150 square foot space in the Meatpacking district in 2000 to where he is now.

The only article of clothing that a man needs to pay close attention to is…

His jeans.

What are the most treasured items in your wardrobe?

Some of my tuxedos that I've picked up over the years working in fashion.

Is comfort an enemy of style?

I'm a firm believer that you need to be comfortable, but every now and then I'll make a sacrifice to play the part.

Which fashion house never fails to impress you?

The classics: Yves Saint Laurent, Gucci, and Dior.

Who would you like to recommend for My Style?

Andy Boose.

The best words of advice you have ever heard?
