What are the most treasured items in your wardrobe?

The Rayban Wayfarer is my go-to. Always have a pair on me.

Please describe your style in three words.

Modern, classic, minimal.

What is the biggest mistake one can make when getting dressed?

Not dressing for the occasion.

Do you believe in role models?

Yes, it's always great to learn from the people who have done it before you.

What are your favourite fabrics?

Denim from Cone Mills, Nihon Menpu, Kurabo, and Kaihara.

Are there any style combinations that you object to?

Bedazzling your denim.

Which city has the best-dressed men?

New York City.

Would you say that you are conservative or bold?

Conservative.

What are the rules, if any, in the way you dress?

Keep it smart, keep it simple.

Celebrities and style...

They either have it or they don't.

One garment/accessory that you can never have enough of?

Jeans.

A man should always look like...

Timeless and confident.

Who taught you what you know about style?

Not really who, but what — travel, my experiences and meeting interesting people have educated me.

How do you select your clothing every morning?

I dress with my schedule in mind.

Do you have any shopping rituals?

Thorough research.

We will never see you wearing...

A jean with horseshoes or rhinestones on the pockets.

The one image that defined your approach to style...

Mies Van Der Rohe's Farnsworth house.

Which new designers do you follow and why?

Ralph Lauren was the one that I looked to for classic American style when I was growing up. He made masculine pieces that were wearable and that wore in well. Very early on he shaped what I think of menswear.

The only article of clothing that a man needs to pay close attention to is.

The details… his shoes, haircut, bag, watch, sunglasses etc. Keep it classic and timeless, but make it uniquely you.

Is comfort an enemy of style?

No.

Who would you like to see next in My Style?

Todd Snyder.

The best words of advice you have ever heard?

One good decision leads to another, and another… take one day at a time and live each day to the fullest.
