Which city has the best-dressed men?

It has to be London; we have the heritage of Savile Row clashing with east London and the fashion schools.

Please describe your style in three words.

Easy, relaxed, minimalist.

What is the biggest mistake one can make when getting dressed?

Not dressing for yourself.

Do you believe in role models?

Some people are born leaders but everyone’s human, so it’s best not to put people on pedestals.

What are your favourite fabrics?

Leather, cashmere, and most of all washed silk georgette.

Are there any style combinations that you object to?

I would say socks with sandals, but I did that for SS11.

Would you say that you are conservative or bold?

Pretty conservative mostly, I don’t like my clothes to be louder than I am.

What are the rules, if any, in the way you dress?

Let yourself do the talking, not what you are wearing.

Celebrities and style...

Reach the public mind.

Name one garment/accessory that you can never have enough of?

White T-shirts, I have more than I can count.

A man should always look like...

He is confident, yet comfortable in his own skin.

Who taught you what you know about style?

My mum and dad are big influences, Liverpool meets New York.

How do you select your clothing every morning?

My wardrobe is one homogeneous mess, so dressing up or down is only a reach away.

What is your biggest regret?

Not buying that Balenciaga Grosgrain jacket a few season ago, it will always be the one that got away.

The three essential things a man should know about style are...

Be yourself, alluring, and quietly confident.

Do you have any shopping rituals?

I tend to man-shop; I find the perfect piece and multi buy in every colour.

We will never see you wearing...

You can never say never.

The most stylish person you have ever seen...

A group of Parisians flocking in Palais Royal.

What is the first thing you notice on a man?

It should not be his clothes.

Which new designers do you follow and why?

I love Baartmans and Siegel for contemporary classics.

What are the most treasured items in your wardrobe?

My Kopenhagen fur jacket from AW11.

Is comfort an enemy of style?

Definitely not. A man should feel confident at all times no matter what he’s wearing.

Which fashion house never fails to impress you?

Lanvin never fails to impress, especially up close in store.

Who would you like to see next in €œMy Style€?

Joseph Turvey was my favourite designer at the London collections this season.

The best words of advice you have ever heard?

Regarding fashion, someone once told me “don't do it”. I didn't understand it at the time, but its definitely an uphill battle.
