Is comfort an enemy of style?

To a certain extent. I see too many women in sneakers and, even though some can pull it off, it just seems so lazy putting on a t-shirt, a pair of jeans and a pair of athletic shoes. The effort of dressing up has gone out of fashion.

Please describe your style in three words.

Understated, elegant, black.

What is the biggest mistake one can make when getting dressed?

Feeling uncomfortable or out of sorts in an outfit.

Do you believe in role models?

I do not look to a specific person but I find inspiration in a lot of different people and their personality and style.

What are your favourite fabrics?

Cashmere, leather, and jersey.

Are there any style combinations that you object to?

Women in sneakers. Let’s bring back heels!

Which city has the best-dressed women?

Paris. French women are so very chic.

Would you say that you are conservative or bold?

I am conservatively bold.

What are the rules, if any, in the way you dress?

To mentally feel comfortable no matter what I am wearing.

One garment/accessory that you can never have enough of?

Shoes.

A woman should always look like...

She is having fun.

Who taught you what you know about style?

Books, magazines, movies, television, books.

How do you select your clothing every morning?

Mood and weather are two staples when choosing the outfit of the day.

What is your biggest regret?

No regrets!

The three essential things a woman should know about style are...

Find your own style. Invest in great wardrobe essentials. Accessorise well.

Do you have any shopping rituals?

Paris! New York!

We will never see you wearing...

Acrylic.

Which new designers do you follow and why?

The Danish designer Anne Sofie Madsen is extremely talented and represents a new wave in Danish fashion.

What is the first thing you notice on a woman?

Her hair, shoes, and bag.

What are the most treasured items in your wardrobe?

My black and white Chanel jacket, black leather woven Alaïa shoes and blue wool Lanvin dress.

The one image that defined your approach to style...

I do not have a specific image in mind but I am a huge fan of the cinema, so I guess I look to old movie classics.

Which designer never fails to impress you?

Nicholas Ghesquière, Raf Simons, and Phoebe Philo.

One article of clothing that a woman needs to pay close attention to is...

All of them. They all complete the look.

Who would you like to see next in My Style€?

My friend Anders Sølvsten Thomsen, fashion director for Love Magazine. He is always well-dressed.
