The three essential things a woman should know about style are...

Trust your instincts. Don’t follow trends. Bien dans sa peau.

Please describe your style in three words.

Classic and bohemian. Upper East Side Nepal.

What is the biggest mistake one can make when getting dressed?

Not understanding their body.

Do you believe in role models?

Yes.

What are your favourite fabrics?

Cashmere, velvet, and fur.

Are there any style combinations that you object to?

Too much of one era.

Which city has the best-dressed women?

Paris.

Would you say that you are conservative or bold?

Conservative.

Celebrities and style...

Can be inspired by characters they have played over the years.

What are the rules in the way you dress?

Monochromatic with a touch of colour. Mixing classic jewellery with Indian and bohemian finds from local markets around the world.

Name one garment/accessory that you can never have enough of?

Shoes.

A woman should always look like...

She isn’t trying too hard.

Who taught you what you know about style?

My grandmothers.

How do you select your clothing every morning?

It's about mood, weather, and instinct.

What is your biggest regret?

I'm not sure I have any.

Do you have any shopping rituals?

Never shop when looking for something. Shop on holidays. Find your go-to shops that fill in your wardrobe essentials.

We will never see you wearing...

Anything asymmetric.

Which new designers do you follow and why?

Roksanda Ilincic for her classic elegance and use of colour. Joseph Altuzarra for his mix of classic with sexy and around the world influences.

Who is the most stylish person you have ever seen?

Ines de la Fressange. I love the way she layers, wears colour, and is always understatedly elegant. She is the epitome of French 'Je ne sais quoi.'

What is the first thing you notice on a woman?

Her jewellery.

What are the most treasured items in your wardrobe?

Alaïa skirts, a Balenciaga black coat, a Saint Laurent tuxedo jacket. My vintage jewellery.

The one image that defined your approach to style...

Jackie O.

Which designer never fails to impress you?

Phoebe Philo at Céline.

One article of clothing that a woman needs to pay close attention to is...

The essentials. A little black dress, a trench coat, a pencil skirt, a great pair of jeans.

Is comfort an enemy of style?

No, it’s the guide to looking good.

Who would you like to recommend for My Style€?

Caroline Issa, fashion director at Tank.

The best words of advice you have ever heard?

With money you can always buy.
