Q: The one image that defined your approach to style…

I can’t pick one! Things like… all of the characters in Edward Scissorhands, Trainspotting, A Clockwork Orange, Jamie Hewlett’s Gorillaz characters, 90’s Britpop, catholic schoolgirls, Harajuku girls, Doom Generation, Madeline.

Q: Please describe your style in three words.

Playful, tomboy, dandy.

Q: What is the biggest mistake one can make when getting dressed?

Putting on something that doesn’t feel right.

Q: Do you believe in role models?

Yes, but only if you view them as regular people.

Q: What are your favourite fabrics?

Too many to choose from!

Q: Are there any style combinations that you object to?

Ones that are so typically copying or following a trend with nothing personal or original added to it.

Q: Which city has the best-dressed women?

London and Tokyo.

Q: Would you say that you are conservative or bold?

I think bold.

Q: What are the rules, if any, in the way you dress?

To not care what other people think, and to do what feels right for you. Follow your intuition.

Q: Celebrities and style…

Are fun to look at.

Q: One garment/accessory that you can never have enough of?

Doc Martens with customized shoe laces. X-girl backpacks.

Q: A woman should always look like…

What she wants to look like.

Q: Who taught you what you know about style?

My mom and my dad.

Q: How do you select your clothing every morning?

By what kind of mood I am in.

Q: What is your biggest regret?

Times when I was conscious about what other people thought of me, and times when I acted out of fear.

Have confidence, use your intuition, but be realistic about what works for your body type.

Q: Do you have any shopping rituals?

Have an idea of what you are looking for before you go.

Things that are too tight.

Q: Which new designers do you follow and why?

Orley, the design team at Opening Ceremony.

Q: Who is the most stylish person you have ever seen?

Jarvis Cocker.

Q: What is the first thing you notice on a woman?

The vibe she is exuding.

Q: What are the most treasured items in your wardrobe?

A ring from my grandma that I never take off.

Q: Which designer never fails to impress you?

Diane Von Furstenberg, Rodarte, Miu Miu, Giles Deacon.

Q: Is comfort an enemy of style?

Pajamas aside… no!

Frank Ocean.

Natural always comes out on top.
